3. If I want to be a Practitioner, what is the spiritual path I must take?
You begin with Foundations Courses in Science and Spirituality. The courses to take for someone just starting are:
• Universal Principles, Themes and Laws Governing Spiritual Living -F1
• New Thought and Ancient Wisdom Teachings and Practices – F2
• Transcendent Masters – F3
• Beginning Meditation – SP1
• Meditation and the Evolution of Consciousness – SP2
• Prayer, A Way of Life – SP3
• Prayer As Expanded Awareness – SP4
• Visioning – SP5

• Financial Freedom – FF 1 or Spiritual Prosperity - TBA
• Mysticism, the Practice and the Mystical I – PM1 (Pre-requisites are: all of the above classes.)

Ÿ Self Awareness and the Evolving Consciousness – SM1 A+B (All of the above classes are prerequisites for this class. Under certain circumstances, admission is possible the discretion of the instructor.)

4. How do I apply for Practitioner Studies?
• After you have completed all of the above listed classes which are prerequisites for entering Practitioner Studies, you are eligible apply. Only classes completed since October of 2006 are considered as fulfilling prerequisites.
• There are three Practitioner Preview Sessions which are offered free of charge. The dates for the 2009 Practitioner Previews are Saturday July 18, 2009, August 8, 2009 and August 22, 2009. The sessions are held from 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon. Attendance at ALL three sessions is mandatory and reservations are necessary. If you have any questions, concerns or scheduling conflicts regarding these sessions, please put them in writing on the Printable Practitioner Preview Information and Appointment Form found below. Fill out the form to the best of your ability with all of the information that you have. • Applications for Fall Enrollment are given out at the third Practitioner Preview Session (Aug. 22) following individual interviews. A non-refundable application fee of $100 must accompany your Application. The Deadline for Applications for the Fall 2009 Term is Sept 11, 2009. The first class will be Oct. 8

• One must reserve space for the Practitioner Preview Sessions by filling out and mailing in the Practitioner Preview Information and Appointment Form which may be downloaded for printing by clicking below.

5. I took classes under the old curriculum before 2006. Would I have to take those classes again?
Yes. Our classes and curricula have changed profoundly. If your classes were completed before 2006, you will need to start over with the classes listed in Question 3 above.

6. I’ve been coming to Agape for years and I already have a strong meditation practice – why do I have to take the prerequisite classes? Why can’t I go directly into Practitioner Studies?

The classes provide a deeper, broader understanding of spiritual principle and New Thought Ancient Wisdom teaching than it is possible to receive in Sunday services. As the Agape Practitioner Code states, “The preparation of Professional Practitioners is a consciousness building process that includes specific studies that apply to and prepare the student for advanced participation in spiritual community. The principles of New Thought-Ancient Wisdom are the foundation of this training along with the practices of meditation, treatment and visioning. This educational curriculum is intended to develop skills associated with the art of spiritual counseling, community building and spiritual leadership.”

7. Once I’ve taken the classes, can I automatically enroll in the Practitioner Classes?
No, you must attend the Practitioner Preview Sessions, complete an application, pay the non-refundable application fee of $100, and be recommended by an Agape Licensed Practitioner with whom you have had more than two sessions. See Question 4 above.

8. I completed Professional Practitioner Studies - I three years ago. Can I just enroll in Prac. II?
No. Because our curriculum has been profoundly revised, you must take Prac. I again to be able to enter Prac. II. If you have been taking classes under the new curriculum, you may apply for re-entry into Prac. 1. If you have not been attending classes since October of 2006, you will need to begin with the prerequisite classes. Please see question 3 above.

9. I have to travel a lot on business. Would that be a problem while I’m in Professional Practitioner Studies?
Yes. You must be able to commit time and resources to your Practitioner studies.
Prac I and II are both 30 weeks in length divided up into three 10-week Terms. There are also Practicums, usually held on Saturdays, internships and other projects require your presence outside of class. Attendance at all classes is required and completion of all internships, practicums and assignments is required.

10. How long does it take to be licensed?
ProfessionalPractitioner Studies takes two years. Upon successful completion of the course, there are several components of licensing:
• A written licensing exam
• A Practicum
• After all of the work you’ve done over the two years of Practitioner Studies has been evaluated, you must be recommended by your facilitators and instructors as a candidate for licensing.
• Candidates for licensing then appear before an Oral Panel of Agape Licensed Practitioners and Ministers.
• Depending on results of the above components, you may be in placed in a License Review Process which will offer further work and mentoring to complete your licensing.

11. What authority is responsible for licensing Practitioners?
AgapePractitioners are licensed by Agape International Spiritual Center, Inc.

12. My license has lapsed but I’d like to pick it up again. What do I need to do?
You need to speak with the President of the Sacred Order of Practitioners, Rev. Kathleen McNamara to find out what you need to do to get your license reinstated.

13. Is being a Practitioner a prerequisite for being a minister?
Yes. Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions – Ministerial Studies on the UTSLA website.
